Hey! check out that snapping turtle. it was not happy with us.
anyway.......
New Caney, Texas is so unbelievably hot and humid! I’ve never ever experienced this kind of heat before. Today is finally rained, relieving us a tiny bit from our sauna we’ve been living in. It has been at 90% humidity for the past few days, basically you walk outside and you’re wet before you even lift a finger. By the end of the day, I’m soaked and it’s prettttty nasty.
Also… while we’re on this slightly disgusting topic.. I drink like a gallon of water a day and I never have to pee! Trust me… if you’ve ever been on a road trip with me… this never happens. It makes me feel healthier. Also.. About the whole healthiness concept… me and a couple of my teammates have given up pop (or soda as the rest of the world except for people in Michigan and Wisconsin say) for the whole round. We’re not going to drink a drop until the last day of travel back from this project.
So this week for work has been alright. We, for the most part, have been working on the trail. We did some clearing and leveling of the ground. We started building the first bridge also.
On Saturday we got to do something cool for the park. We did surveying for them. This meant that we sat at specific locations throughout a city park in Houston and we counted people. Age estimations… and sometimes gender estimations : ]
It was fun though. My friend Daquan and I sat at the jogging trail and counted people. Amongst the hundreds of joggers that ran past came Warren Moon. For those of you who don’t know, he’s an hall of fame QB that played for the Oilers. I didn’t recognize him, but a few runners on the trail and my friend all recognized him...pretty neat. All in a day’s work : ]
I do miss home a lot lately. I’m excited to see everyone again.
Love,
Abigail
In process.
Made our reservations to be at the graduation tonight. Can't wait to see you again. Nice turtle, by the way. I don't envy you the heat, but a tornado warning--that's cool.
ReplyDeleteHeat and humidity equals yuck!! At least you got some people watching done... and for a purpose even. Can't wait til you get back to hear the stories.
ReplyDeleteI seriously need a bridge over our pond, or something. I want you to build something when you get home. Maybe a new addition for a bedroom for dad and I.
