Wrapping Up Round One

This is the last week before we all go on Christmas break. This round of projects flew by! It was only about half the length of a normal project though, so that might be why. We've been having lots of fun as a team. We're all getting sick with the same thing. i mean, it's bound to happen because we live together.

We had a Secret Santa on Friday night. I had my team leader's name and i made her a way cool TL hat... height of fashion... and got her Bingo (her fav!)

Because the organization that we're working with doesn't have more work for us, we've been doing other things around the Denver area. A lot of work with Habitat Restore (which we should have in Saginaw because it's such a great idea) and with the Children's Museum.

On Friday we got to work at a nature center picking up trash and removing fencing.
During the day we found a big drop off, and took trash bags and flew down them! It was definitely a highlight.

I come home in a few days for christmas! it doesn't seem real. i'm excited to see everyone : ]

it's christmas in your city!

(title compliments of josh and billy)

today is an AmeriSnowday! We woke up bright and early this morning to go out and work with Habitat For Humanity, and then we looked outside. Lots and lots of snow. The thing about Denver is, it never lightly snows... it dumps.
So we made the executive decision that driving a 15-P wouldn't be safe in this weather. I couldn't fall back asleep though because i had so much energy. It kind of reminded me of school because after I found out it was a snow day, I could never fall back asleep because I was too happy that I got to sleep in. oh, the irony!

So today here's my plan- read "A Million Miles in a Thousand Years" Don Miller's new book because I finally found it yesterday!- I think I will probably finish it today from what I've heard from others.

Yesterday Roomie/Tana and I went christmas shopping! It was a delightful day for both of us.
The Parade of Lights was last night also and we stayed for that and met up with some other team members. It was a blast, Denver is so COOL!

So... I'm back in about two weeks! I'm excited to see everyone. We have one week left of our project and then our whole Corps comes back. as a wise teacher of mine once said- "time's fun when you're having flies!"

love!

thanksliving

hello all of you,

i'm currently listening to switchfoot's hello hurricane. i really enjoy this album. i don't know what anyone else thinks of it yet, but i, for one, like it.

this past week has been delightful! it contained a pretty long break thursday-sunday. it was a bit strange to have that much time off. there were definitely times that i got sad because i missed being home for thanksgiving, but i think that was just because it was my first holiday not where i normally was.
it was very nice having some time off though. honestly, i read and played guitar a lot of the weekend, and i kept having to tell myself it was ok and that i didn't have to be accomplishing something every second. God enjoys teaching me to relax : ]

So on thanksgiving, my good friend Michelle was in town because her boyfriend lives here. Obviously, her boyfriend is a Broncos fan so he went to the game thursday night, so i got to meet up with her downtown and have thanksgiving dinner! it was so refreshing to see her and talk with her. We got to have a good 5 hours together just walking around downtown and talking about life. Also on thanksgiving I got to skype with my family that i normally am with on thanksgiving, and it made me so happy! i'm not gonna lie, i teared up a bit.

I received two very awesome packages for thanksgiving which made me feel like home wasn't that far. First was from my Aunt, Uncle and baby cousins. (i guess their not really babies anymore, but i still call them that) but this was filled with delicious chocolate [absolutely
necessary] ad other things of that nature and adorable pictures of my cousins which i hung up on my desk.

the next package i got was from my very own family filled with hot chocolates, teas, and other wintery day things.
i just love getting mail : ]

Our room is a bit decorated for christmas now! i made a tree out of christmas lights and green paper (AmeriCorps has made me pretty resourceful) i waited till after thanksgiving to make bronner's throw up in our room so don't you guys worry!

anyway, this week's going so fast and it's going well. still loving every day because each one is so very different.

-there is something for you in each day, it just takes a brave person to get out and look for it.

love,
